Vertebrates
|
The invertebrates of the river are abundant. What are Vertebrates exactly? Well, they are animals classified under the Subphylum Vertebrata, which is classified under the phylum Chordata. Vertebrates are unique from invertebrates because of the possession of a backbone. Practically, every type of vertebrate can be found at a river. Mammals and reptiles drink the river's water, birds eat the fish, while amphibians and fish live in the river. However, we will not look at the animals that exist around a river, I want to look at the animals that use the river as their habitat; amphibians, fish, and reptiles.
